Standard Manuscript Reading
A standard medical checkup for your book: as I read, I check your manuscript’s vitals (structure, style, voice, character and plot development), diagnose any problems, and offer recommendations for treatment.
This service is also available for short stories and essays.
In-Depth Manuscript Edit
A comprehensive examination, from the big picture down to the line level nuts and bolts, with an in-depth focus on structure, plot and character development, narrative voice, style, dialogue, and more, as well as tracked line edits on your Word document. This is not a copyedit.
Please note: Because my Standard Reading is so comprehensive and often suggests structural and developmental changes, I now require a standard reading before an in-depth edit.

About Maya
My editorial style is essentially that of a doctor: when you submit your manuscript, I examine it, test it, provide a diagnosis, and recommended treatment. In every book I work on, I look for a balance of precision and soul and I strive to help every client achieve that balance by honing their stylistic skills while also developing and deepening their story.
After over a decade of professional developmental editing and writing coaching, I still truly believe that every writer, from critically acclaimed authors to beginners, can continue to learn, to improve, and to further hone their craft.
Born and raised in America, I grew up in a family that lived and breathed literature and storytelling. I went on to study Literature and History, specializing in both the Early American and Victorian periods, and have been professionally editing since 2012.
I currently live in Prague (a town pretty famous for its literature!) with my two cats and an ever-growing library.
